10 tips for chili tasting - just for kids
If you want to eat chili with some of your friends, there's no requirement that you have to get your parents' permission. It's simply something you can do without permission.
Here you are on an equal footing with your parents, who don't have to ask anyone for permission if they want to eat a chili. That's called freedom. You have the freedom to do what you want, but of course you also have a responsibility to ensure that the chili eating is done responsibly.
1. You should have some friends to share the experience with! Ask your classmates if they want to join you for a chili. It's always more fun when there are more people together.
2. Remember! If chili tasting is going to be fun, it has to be voluntary. It's never fun to be pressured into something against your will. If someone says no to participating, respect their no.
3. Find a time that works for you. It might not be a good idea to start a school day by eating chili! Wait until recess or, even better, during after-school club or after-school care.
4. Research where you can buy a chili. Many supermarkets and greengrocers sell chilies from different shelves. You can get a good chili for under 10 kr. – so it's not the price that should stop you from eating a chili.
5. Choose a few chilies in different wind strengths. This way you can try them out and get a feel for how hot the different chilies are.
6. Find someone to record your chili tasting so you have something to laugh about later. It's great to laugh.
7. Remember to chew your chili well. It's better for it to burn in your mouth than in your stomach.
8. Don't panic. Eating chili makes you feel a little nauseous, but it will pass.
9. Remember to tell your parents you ate chili. Maybe you'll get some extra pocket money because you've found a healthy hobby?
10. Remember that eating chili is a fun, healthy, and sensible hobby for a young person. It is approximately 71 million times healthier than smoking cigarettes.
Why can't I just swallow a chili?
Many people swallow the chili when it gets really hot in the mouth. That's a stupid idea. In that case, it's the stomach that has to break down the chili, and my experience is that you can save yourself a real stomachache if you swallow a whole chili. Then it's better that it burns in your mouth anyway.
